GAFI CEO Begins a Promotional Visit to Attract Qatari Investments to Egypt
GAFI CEO and Minister of Commerce and Industry in Qatar discuss opportunities of joint investment
cooperation
Counselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab, GAFI CEO, started a promotional visit to Qatar, during which he will
meet with investment decision makers and representatives of the business community in Qatar to discuss
the injection of new investments into the Egyptian market, and undertaking investment partnerships with
the Egyptian business community.
Abdel Wahab met Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and
Industry of Qatar to discuss enhancing investment cooperation between the two countries, in the presence
of Amr El-Sherbiny, Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt in Doha, where the two sides agreed on the
importance of coordinating field visits by the Qatari business community to Egypt, to discuss investment
opportunities on the ground.
GAFI CEO reviewed the investment opportunities of interest to Qatari investments, which are consistent
with the economic trends of the two countries, especially in chemical and petrochemical industries,
financial services, logistics services, real estate development, and tourism sectors.
"The Egyptian economy enjoys many competitive elements, on top of which are the investment and trade
agreements that Egypt concluded with its African and Arab neighbors during the past years. In addition to
Economic Reform Program that the Egyptian government has efficiently implemented, and the huge
investments in infrastructure that have contributed to the improvement of the business environment in
Egypt, as well as many new investment facilitations and incentives approved by Prime Minister to attract
more local and foreign investments.", GAFI CEO said.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Qassim Al-Thani stressed the importance of the
economic cooperation between the two countries, praising the Economic Reform Program implemented by
Egypt over the past years, in addition to encouraging Qatari companies to examine the promising
investment opportunities in Egypt.
Moreover, GAFI CEO met with Mr. Abdullah Mubarak Al Khalifa, QNB Chief Executive Officer, to
discuss the bank's expansion plans during the coming period, and to facilitate financing mechanisms for
Qatari companies willing to set up investments in Egypt.
Counselor Abdel Wahab presented a specific set of investment opportunities to QNB representatives to be
assessed and introduced to Qatari companies as well as financing such opportunities. Furthermore, he
pointed out that it was agreed with QNB CEO to form a work group to follow up and present the investment
opportunities periodically to Qatari companies interested in implementing new investments in Egypt or
expanding existing investments.
