Mr. Hossam Heiba, GAFI CEO, received Dr. Krishna Reddy, the CEO of Access Health International, and Dr. Hala Zayed, Regional Director of Access Health for the Middle East and North Africa, to discuss ways of cooperation between the two sides to attract new investments into the Egyptian health sector.
Dr. Krishna Reddy stated that Access Health International aims to contribute to enhancing the role of investment in improving the healthcare system in Egypt and promoting investment opportunities in the Egyptian health sector through business forums and gatherings organized and attended by the organization worldwide. He pointed out the immense investment appeal of Egypt's medical tourism sector.
Both sides agreed to promote investment in Egypt through the Access Health network, which includes over 100 international partners, and to cooperate on technical and research efforts to create an interactive investment map for healthcare in Egypt. This map will include investment opportunities in medical tourism, the establishment of healthcare institutions, the production of medicines and vaccines, medical devices, and health insurance services.
Dr. Hala Zayed confirmed that the Egyptian government's approval to grant the "Golden License" for health sector projects represents an important positive development, as this type of project will greatly benefit from dealing with a single authority to obtain construction and operational approvals.
The Regional Director of Access Health International for the Middle East and North Africa also announced the opening of the organization's office in Cairo to deepen cooperation with both the public and private sectors to improve healthcare services for Egyptian citizens and coordinate efforts to attract investments in the healthcare sector.
For his part, Mr. Hossam Heiba outlined the incentives granted for investments in the health sector, which increase as investments align with Egypt's Sustainable Development Plan, "Egypt Vision 2030." This includes the quality and quantity of health services provided, their coverage for the most in need citizens, sustainability of investment flows, encouragement of exports, localization of technology and scientific research, employment and training of labor, and focusing on the social impact of investments on the surrounding environment—all of which align with the priorities of Access Health International.
GAFI CEO and representatives of Access Health International agreed to target attracting several global brands in the healthcare sector to invest in Egypt to achieve high economic returns, promote Egypt as a global destination for medical tourism, and generate increased income for Egypt's human capital of doctors and medical staff.
