A promotional visit to Tokyo next month is announced
The second meeting of Egypt-Japan Business and Investment Promotion Committee was held at the headquarters of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), headed by Counselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab, GAFI CEO, representing the Egyptian side, and Mr. Oka Hiroshi, Japan's ambassador in Cairo, representing the Japanese side.
The Chairman of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), the Chairman of the Japanese Business Association, the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Egypt, the Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization in Cairo (JETRO), and representatives of major Japanese companies operating in Egypt also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, Counselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab confirmed that GAFI is intensifying its efforts to attract Japanese investments, due to the added value and development benefits of such investments to the Egyptian economy. Moreover, he stressed that GAFI has succeeded in attracting many new Japanese investors to Egypt, and encouraging the Japanese companies operating in Egypt to expand their business in the Egyptian market, since the first meeting of Egypt-Japan Business and Investment Promotion Committee that was held last year, which included “Sumitomo” and “Yazaki” companies in the field of manufacturing electrical braids for cars, and “Otsuka” company for medical and food products.
GAFI CEO also indicated that the government has taken many measures to improve the investment environment and develop new policies to attract FDI, stressing in this regard that all facilities are provided to Japanese bodies operating in Egypt, so that the successful investment partnership between the two countries flourishes.
The Japanese ambassador in Cairo referred to the prominent role played by Egypt-Japan Business and Investment Promotion Committee in supporting Japanese investments in Egypt, and highlighting investment opportunities to encourage more Japanese investors to inject new investments in Egypt.
It is worth noting that the Committee's meetings witnessed a presentation of the most important developments in investment cooperation between the two sides, especially the investments and expansions made by Japanese companies operating in Egypt during last year. Moreover, representatives of Japanese companies reviewed the achievements of their companies while operating in the Egyptian market.
The two sides tackled future investment fields and various investment opportunities in Egypt, which enhance Egypt's position as a hub for manufacturing and exporting globally

The meetings of the Committee also encompassed the announcement of the implementation of a promotional tour for GAFI in the coming month in a number of Japanese cities: to meet major Japanese companies interested in investing in Egypt; and to present the investment opportunities available in sectors of common interest, as part of a promotional strategy to attract Japanese investments to Egypt.
It is noteworthy that Egypt-Japan Business and Investment Promotion Committee was inaugurated during the activities of the 7th session of Tokyo International Conference on African Development.
