As part of its ongoing efforts to foster international cooperation and institutional knowledge exchange, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), through its Investors Dispute Settlement Center (IDSC), welcomed a high-level delegation from the Tashkent International Arbitration Centre (TIAC) of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The visit served as a platform for sharing insights and best practices in mediation and investment dispute resolution. The Uzbek delegation was also given a guided tour of GAFI’s facilities to gain firsthand insight into its service delivery mechanisms and investor support systems.
The visit concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by Dr. Iman Mansour, Director of GAFI’s IDSC, and Mr. Diyorbek Kimsenov TIAC Director. The agreement aims to deepen institutional cooperation in support of a more robust investment environment in both countries.
Under the terms of the MoU, the two centers will collaborate on exchanging expertise in improving the business climate and promoting mediation as a cost-effective and efficient alternative for resolving investment disputes.
The partnership also envisions joint organization of workshops and training programs for mediation professionals in Egypt and Uzbekistan, the provision of technical assistance to build dispute resolution capacity, and the exchange of information on legal and procedural developments relevant to mediation practices in both countries.
