GAFI Showcases Egypt’s Investment Dispute Resolution Experience at International Conference in Rabat

The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) took part in the National Conference on State Dispute Management and Prevention, held in Rabat, Morocco, with broad regional and international participation.

Dr. Iman Mansour, Head of Investment Dispute Resolution Center (Egypt), presented the Egyptian model for settling investment disputes, which emphasizes direct negotiation and amicable solutions. Such approach aims to bolster investor confidence and ensure a steady flow of investments within a progressive legislative and economic environment conducive to investment.

The Conference sessions were attended by Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, Prime Minister of Morocco, and Ms. Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance, as well as a number of prominent international figures, among them Ms. Clémence Olsina, Director of Legal Affairs and State Attorney of France; Mr. Jesús Moreno Vivas, Director General of Litigation at the Office of the Attorney General of State of Spain; Mr. Amadou Mbaye Gissé, State Attorney of Senegal; and Counselor Abdel Razek Shoaib, Head of Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority.

The sessions addressed strategic topics such as governance, arbitration, digitization, and preventive dispute management strategies. Egypt's experience in mediation was widely praised, having successfully resolved hundreds of disputes with minimal cost.

Ms. Laura Fadl-Allah, a member of the International Arbitration Advisory Team, noted that Egypt has updated its legislation and strengthened its institutions for dispute resolution, which contributed to the improvement of the investment climate and enhancement to attract investors.

On his part, Egyptian Ambassador to Morocco, H.E. Ahmed Nehad Abdel Latif, received the Egyptian delegation participating in the Conference, and confirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to supporting legal and investment cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
