Business Today Egypt, during its “bt100
Awards” ceremony, awarded Counselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Chief Executive Officer
of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), as one of the most
influential people in the Egyptian economy in 2020.
The “bt100 Awards” ceremony is one of the most prominent economic events
witnessed by the financial and business community in Egypt, where the most influential
economic figures are honored in addition to the 50 best-performing companies and
organizations in the various economic sectors of Egypt. They are chosen according to
international standards to measure their effectiveness in promoting the Egyptian economy,
developing the business environment and supporting Egypt's vision for sustainable
development.
GAFI CEO expressed his great appreciation of this award, stressing the importance of
encouraging institutions and companies in the public and private sectors to support the
process of growth and reform in the Egyptian economy and the need to encourage economic
institutions to increase effective partnerships that lead to improving and developing the
investment and business environment.
GAFI CEO also explained that during Covid-19 GAFI has taken several measures to
stimulate investments, encourage local and foreign companies to expand, simplify
procedures related to corporate businesses, and overcome the challenges faced by investors.
This has led to Egypt being at top country receiving foreign direct investment (FDI) in
Africa during 2020. Moreover, GAFI has been pursuing a promotional strategy to attract
investments in specific and priority economic sectors to keep pace with Egypt's 2030 vision
for sustainable development. In the end, Counselor Abdel-Wahhab expressed his deep
appreciation of the institutions and persons that were awarded for their effective and positive
role in supporting and developing the Egyptian economy and participation in serving the
community.
