GAFI Hosts Delegation of African Investors on Visit to Alexandria Public Free Zone

In line with the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, to strengthen investment and trade cooperation with African countries, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) organized a visit for a delegation of officials from investment authorities and investment promotion agencies in a number of African countries to Alexandria Public Free Zone, on the sidelines of the “Alamein–Africa Business Forum.”
The delegation included Anne Rosette, CEO of the Seychelles Investment Board; Amina Houssein Guireh, Deputy CEO of the Djibouti National Investment Promotion Agency; Nadjati Soidiki, CEO of the Comoros National Investment Promotion Agency; Mohamed Ouertatani, Representative of the Tunisian Government; and Maged El Kamhawy, Finance and Admin Officer.
The visit was attended by Major General Yasser Abbas, Deputy CEO of GAFI, and Walid Anwar, Deputy CEO of GAFI.
Major General Yasser Abbas reviewed the range of services and incentives provided by GAFI to projects operating in free zones, as well as its role in supporting production and exports and attracting investment, in accordance with the provisions of Investment Law No. 72 of 2017.
He noted that Alexandria Public Free Zone benefits from a strategic location, infrastructure and integrated services, as well as connectivity to transportation networks and ports, supporting industrial, service and export-oriented activities.
GAFI also highlighted the key sectors operating in the zone, including textiles and garments, chemicals, petroleum, and electrical industries, in addition to services and storage activities.
Walid Anwar explained that GAFI is working to develop the services provided to investors, facilitate procedures, and improve the investment environment, stressing the importance of exchanging expertise with African investment authorities and opening new avenues for cooperation and attracting joint investments.
The visit program included tours of Nile Linen Group, Pharma Plast, and Alex Apparels, where the delegation learned about their activities and production and export plans.
