As part of the ongoing efforts of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) to attract sustainable investments and align with international standards and mechanisms, GAFI convened the inaugural meeting of the "Carbon Emissions Reduction" Working Group at GAFI's headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Dalia El-Hawary, GAFI Deputy CEO, and attended by working group members, heads of relevant sectors at GAFI, and sustainability experts from the Federation of Egyptian Industries and the Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX).

The discussions focused on emerging global legislations and mechanisms for reducing emissions in the industrial sector and their impact on key segments of the Egyptian economy. This initiative marks a significant step in GAFI's broader commitment to achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) by raising awareness and building capacity on global environmental sustainability standards—highlighting both the opportunities they present and the challenges they impose. In her speech, Dr. El-Hawary stressed the vital role of the Working Group in reinforcing GAFI's efforts to attract green and sustainable investments.

The meeting covered key sustainability topics, with a particular focus on attracting sustainable investments.

In her closing remarks, Dr. El-Hawary expressed her appreciation to the experts and attendees for their active engagement and reaffirmed the importance of this meeting as the first in a series of specialized discussions in collaboration with competent authorities to further enhance corporate awareness and build capacity in sustainability and emissions reduction.
