- GAFI Is Committed to Providing All Forms of Support to German Investors Throughout the Various Stages of Investment
In line with the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, to strengthen economic and investment cooperation with Egypt’s international partners, attract investment, and promote technology transfer, Waleed Anwar, Deputy CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI Deputy CEO), participated in the Egyptian-German Conference on Sustainable Construction Machinery. The conference was organized by the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) as part of a visit by a delegation of German business representatives operating in the construction machinery and equipment sector serving the cement industry.
In his opening remarks, GAFI Deputy CEO emphasized the depth of the economic and investment relations between Egypt and Germany, noting that these relations have evolved into a strong economic partnership, with more than 1,500 German companies operating in the Egyptian market and total foreign direct investment (FDI) stock amounting to USD 1.8 billion.
He noted that Egypt offers attractive investment opportunities in the construction and machinery sectors, supported by the availability of natural resources and energy sources, as well as its strategic location, which provides access to the markets of Africa, the Middle East, and Europe through free trade agreements.
He further noted that GAFI offers investors a wide range of incentives and benefits under various investment regimes, affirming GAFI’s readiness to provide all forms of support to German investors, from company incorporation and land allocation through to obtaining the licenses required to commence business activities.
He also highlighted a number of success stories of German companies operating in Egypt, including Knauf, Heidelberg, BSH, Henkel, Leoni, and Siemens, reflecting the growing confidence of German investors in the Egyptian market.
The conference featured presentations by leading German companies, including BHS-Sonthofen, Claudius Peters, HYDAC International, and thyssenkrupp Uhde Egypt, showcasing the latest solutions and technologies used in the cement industry.
On the sidelines of the conference, GAFI held a number of bilateral meetings with the participating German companies to explore opportunities for joint cooperation.
