Tomorrow, the Egyptian-European Investment Conference will be launched, featuring extensive participation from representatives of the Egyptian government, the European Union – EU, multilateral institutions, and the private sector from both sides. The joint Egyptian-European Investment Conference will kick off tomorrow, honored by the presence of His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission – EC. The conference will feature broad participation from representatives of the Egyptian government, the European Union, multilateral institutions, and the private sector on both sides. The conference is scheduled to be inaugurated by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen, before the activities of the highly significant event commence on June 29 and 30 entitled “Unlocking Egypt's Advantages in a Fast-Changing World". The event will be attended by a group of high-ranking government officials from Egypt and European Union countries, as well as representatives of development partners, multilateral organizations, and a wide array of heads and officials from prominent Egyptian, European, and international companies, along with representatives from Egyptian and European business organizations. The activities of the first day of the conference include a session to showcase the economic reform measures implemented by the Egyptian government to create an attractive investment environment for the private sector. This session will be attended by several European commissioners, Egyptian ministers, and representatives of multilateral institutions and the private sector. A second discussion session will be devoted to strategic reform measures to transform Egypt into a nearshoring hub. The agenda for the first day also encompasses a discussion session on the importance of cooperation programs between Egypt, the International Monetary Fund – IMF and EU, and their role in supporting the private sector. The other sessions throughout the day will be dedicated to presenting the efforts made to prepare Egypt's business environment to become a manufacturing hub. In this context, there will be a focus on discussing logistics services in Egypt, exploring opportunities in automotive manufacturing, and addressing ways to enhance the pharmaceutical industries. The discussion sessions continue on the first day, including talks on investment opportunities in Egypt's renewable energy sector, hydrogen, and the value chains in this field. Mohamed El-Hamshany, spokesman for the Council of Ministers, stated: "It is scheduled that Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, will chair the first session along with Mr. Oliver Varhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, as part of the activities of the second day of the Egyptian-European Joint Investment Conference. The second day includes several other sessions to discuss important issues such as securing financing to support investment in Egypt, enhancing the business environment for entrepreneurs and technological industries, as well as issues related to water and food security. The conference is expected to witness the signing of a large number of memoranda of understanding for cooperation in various fields. These include supporting the macro-economy, investment, renewable energy, green hydrogen, green ammonia, telecommunications, information technology, boosting exports, and collaboration in automotive manufacturing. Throughout the conference days, rooms will be allocated for bilateral meetings between Egyptian and European companies to explore potential partnerships in various sectors.
