INTRODUCTION

Tourism has long been one of the most attractive sectors in Egypt, with a variable
range of activities and backdrops that cater to each traveler’s needs.

When considering Egyptian tourism, one immediately thinks of the thousands of years
narrating the ancient history of Egypt.

Accordingly, a unique site was chosen for The Grand Egyptian Museum located on the
first desert plateau between modern Cairo and the ancient pyramids. Visitors will be
able to see the pyramids of Cheops, Kephren and Mycerinus through the glass wall
            that fronts the galleries.

The GEM is placed between the modern complexities of Cairo and the ancient culture
of the pyramids. Three significant elements organize the New Museum within the site:
first the plateau edge, which divides the site into higher and lower sections; secondly
the view towards the Pyramids; thirdly the approach from Cairo-Alexandria Desert
            Road.
