FUSTAT
Founded by Amr Ibn Al-Aas, Fustat was the rst
capital city of Islamic Egypt.
As a fully self-sucient city it had many dierent markets as
well as factories for ceramics, textiles, glass, coins, and kilns
for the manufacturing of bricks. The city was burned by the
Fatimids.
DYE HOUSE
This unique archaeological site was discovered in the 1930s
and is now located within the excavations of NMEC.
