Dr. Mohamed Awad Discusses GAFI Investment Policies Development and Dispute Settlement Mechanisms

 Launching the first Egyptian Mediation Guide for Investment Disputes In implementation of the directives of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT), to establish an investment decision-making system supported by sound and up-to-date data and to enhance the dispute settlement mechanism at GAFI, Dr. Mohamed Awad, GAFI CEO, and Dr. Eman Mansour, GAFI Deputy CEO, held a meeting with the leadership of the Investment Policies Sector and the Disputes Settlement Center at the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI). 
Dr. Mohamed Awad emphasized the importance of the data, reports, and studies issued by the Investment Policies Sector in building a comprehensive overview of Egypt’s investment climate, which has provided decision-makers across all governmental entities with informational support that contributed to the adoption of decisions positively impacted the investment landscape in Egypt.
GAFI CEO directed the intensification of efforts and the enhancement of GAFI information output both quantitatively and qualitatively, through increased reliance on AI-powered analytical tools and efficient coordination with all governmental and international entities concerned with investment data.
The Investment Policies Sector aims to launch 100 economic and sectoral studies, as well as 12 legal and legislative studies during 2026. In addition, the Sector will contribute to the monitoring and preparation of 50 international reports, as part of GAFI efforts to enrich the national dialogue on the investment climate, and to support the advance preparation and planning of all domestic and
international economic scenarios.
The planned studies will include comprehensive information on global investment trends, developments in the business environment in Egypt and abroad, as well as sectoral and geographical analyses of investments, among other investment-related topics.
Dr. Mohamed Awad directed the periodic monitoring of international economic indicators and reports, as well as continuous and effective engagement with international institutions, in order to present a comprehensive overview of the ongoing efforts to develop the investment climate. He also called for the expansion of Egypt’s successful and inspiring investment experiences through various media and communication channels, as a key driver for attracting new investments both domestically and internationally.
GAFI CEO also reviewed the efforts of the Dispute Settlement Center in reaching swift and equitable amicable settlements between investors in Egypt. He urged the Center’s staff to continue their efforts to maintain its leading position as the largest governmental mediation center in the Middle East, with amicable settlement success rates reaching 70%, which has contributed to the continuity and growth of hundreds of companies in the Egyptian market.​
Dr. Mohamed Awad further discussed the Center’s efforts to localize mediation practices in Egypt and to launch the first Egyptian Mediation Guide tailored to the needs of the Egyptian market, ​instead of relying on foreign guides.
