Egyptian Economic Delegation Continue Meetings in Brussels to Promote Investment in Egypt

Within the framework of the visit of the Egyptian economic delegation to Brussels to promote investment in Egypt and outline the ongoing preparations for the Investment Conference planned to be held in Egypt the present year, the Egyptian Embassy in Brussels and its Commercial Bureau arranged a meeting for the Egyptian delegation, in the presence of Mr. Jan Jambon, Minister-President of the Government of Flanders, Belgium, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, the Egyptian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, and the participation of representatives of commercial agencies in the three Belgian provinces (Walloon Region, Brussels Capital Region and Flanders Region), and major Belgian companies operating in many fields; including the new and renewable energy sector, green hydrogen, logistics, infrastructure, banks, and ports.

During the meeting, the economic delegation headed by GAFI CEO Mr. Hossam Heiba reviewed the ongoing economic reform process in Egypt, as well as the investment advantages, incentives and guarantees granted to Egyptian and foreign investors. In addition, an interactive dialogue was held with representatives of Belgian companies operating in Egypt, which are looking forward to pumping more investments into Egypt; especially in the fields of transportation, logistics, renewable and new energy, and taking advantage of the availability of solar energy and wind energy in Egypt, the capacities of producing green hydrogen and green ammonia, as well as Europe's need to import about 10 gigawatts of renewable energy annually. Cooperation opportunities in many other priority sectors were also discussed.

For his part, Mr. Jan Jambon, Minister-President of the Government of Flanders, appreciated the relations with Egypt, praised the Egyptian delegation's presentation of the promising opportunities and capabilities of the Egyptian economy, and the sectors that the Investment Conference will focus on, including energy, industry, agriculture, and others.

Dr. Bader Abdel-Aty, the Ambassador of Egypt in Brussels, delivered a speech, in which he emphasized the depth of the bilateral relations between Egypt and Belgium. He highlighted the significant advancements in political, economic, trade, and tourism sectors and expressed Egypt's aspirations to further deepen these relations, especially in the areas of investment and trade, to maximize the benefits from the current existing opportunities.

GAFI CEO and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) presented an overview of the investment climate and opportunities in Egypt in general, and in SCZONE in particular.

It's worth noting that the Egyptian delegation was led by Mr. Hossam Heiba, GAFI CEO, and included Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SCZone, Ambassador Omar Abu Eish, Head of the National Bureau of the implementation of the Egypt/EU Association Agreement, and Ms. Jihan Saleh, the Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister. The delegation also comprised representatives from the Egyptian private sector, including the Secretary-General of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, the Head of the Egyptian Federation of Investors Association, the President of the Egyptian Junior Business Association, and the representative of the Federation of Egyptian Industries.​
