- The Golden License made »Haier Egypt« the fastest-established factory among the world's largest home appliance manufacturing group
Mr. Hossam Heiba, GAFI CEO, participated in the first panel of Egypt-China Investment Forum, which was attended by representatives of around 200 Egyptian and Chinese companies. Among the key participants were BYD, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer; LONGi, a global company specializing in the production and management of solar power plants; and Inspur, a world-renowned enterprise in information technology, artificial intelligence, and data centers.
The forum brought together major Chinese and Egyptian companies operating in priority sectors for both sides, including textiles, infrastructure, and others.
Mr. Heiba stated that China tops the list of Egypt’s trade and investment partners worldwide, with more than 2,000 Chinese companies operating in Egypt and total investments exceeding USD 8 billion. However, the Egyptian government still sees significant opportunities to attract new Chinese investments to the Egyptian market, particularly in sectors where Egypt enjoys a competitive advantage. These include eight key sectors: industry (automotive, pharmaceuticals, home appliances, and textiles), communications and information technology, health, education, logistics, tourism, renewable energy, and agriculture.
GAFI CEO reviewed the investment incentives available to Chinese companies wishing to invest in these sectors, noting that these incentives include a reimbursement of up to 50% of the investment cost through tax deductions granted to the project over a period of seven years.
GAFI CEO added that the strong Chinese demand for investment in Egypt has been one of the main drivers behind the expansion of existing free zones, which currently operate at nearly full capacity, in addition to establishing four new zones in cities named: 10th of Ramadan, New October, New Borg El-Arab, and New Alamein, which will start operating by the end of 2026.
Engineer Ahmed El-Gendy, General Manager of Haier Egypt, stated that the streamlined incorporation and licensing procedures enabled the company to complete the first phase of its project in Egypt in 13 months, making it the fastest-established factory among Haier Group’s global plants. He added that the company has already begun exporting its products from its plant in Egypt.
Haier is the world’s largest home appliance manufacturer, with production facilities in several countries including China, the United States, South Africa, and the Philippines. Its products are available in 200 countries worldwide.
The company is also among those that have obtained the Golden License, which consolidates all necessary permits and approvals into a comprehensive one.
The forum featured business-to-business (B2B) meetings between Egyptian and Chinese companies to explore the launch of joint investments targeting both the Egyptian market and international markets that have trade agreements with Egypt.
