Mr. Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), took part in the “Egypt–Oman” Conference held on the sidelines of the celebration hosted by the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo on the occasion of Oman’s National Day.
Mr. Heiba affirmed that Egyptian–Omani relations represent a solid model of joint cooperation, noting that they have witnessed significant progress across political, economic, and investment levels. He explained that Omani investments in Egypt amounted to USD 52 million, and that the number of companies with Omani contributions reached 112 companies—placing Oman 50th among countries investing in Egypt. He added that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached approximately USD 858 million in 2024.
Mr. Heiba emphasized that Egypt’s Vision 2030 represents the strategic framework for stimulating investment and empowering the private sector through updating legislation, enhancing governance, and automating customs procedures to reduce clearance time. He noted that these reforms have laid the foundation for a new phase aimed at positioning Egypt among the world’s top 50 countries in investment and trade competitiveness within the next two years.
In this context, GAFI CEO called on business communities in both countries to strengthen cooperation and launch joint ventures in promising sectors, including industry, financial and logistics services, new and renewable energy, agriculture, and information and communications technology.
He stressed Egypt’s commitment to removing obstacles to investment and trade, creating a supportive environment for shared growth, opening new markets, and achieving sustainable development. He also invited Omani companies to explore and expand their investments in the opportunities available in Egypt.
At the conclusion of his remarks, Mr. Heiba expressed his appreciation for the gracious invitation to participate in the celebration. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the brothers and sisters in the Sultanate of Oman on the occasion of Oman’s National Day, reaffirming the depth of historical ties between Egypt and Oman and GAFI’s keenness to provide an attractive investment environment for Omani investors—contributing to expanding prospects for joint economic cooperation between the two countries.
