As part of GAFI’s ongoing commitment to close, on-the-ground follow-up of serious investment projects, the Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, Mr. Hossam Heiba (GAFI CEO), visited Naya Wellness Nile Sornaga Resort in the Al-Saff area.
He was received by Dr. Mohamed Karrar, Chairman of Maxim Investment Group, in the presence of Mr. Yasser Abbas, GAFI Deputy CEO; Mr. Walid Al-Rashidi, Managing Director and CEO of Invest Egypt; Mr. Ahmed Kamal, Head of the Central Department of Investment and Technology Zones; Eng. Hussein Makki, Head of the Central Department of Engineering Affairs; along with a number of senior GAFI officials.
Naya Wellness Nile Sornaga is one of the investment assets owned by GAFI and is located within an investment zone affiliated to it in Al-Saff precinct. Maxim Investment Group is responsible for the project’s development, management, and operation under an integrated public–private partnership model that aims to maximize the utilization of public assets and generate sustainable added value.
The project represents the first fully integrated medical resort of its kind in Egypt and worldwide. It has been designed in line with the highest international standards, combining advanced medical treatments, holistic therapeutic practices, and premium hospitality services.
Each guest’s journey begins with a comprehensive health assessment that defines a tailored treatment program, integrating the latest medical innovations with established therapeutic expertise.
The visit comes as part of the GAFI CEO’s keen interest in closely monitoring on-the-ground progress of the project and ensuring that implementation is proceeding in line with the approved timelines.
This reflects the State’s commitment to supporting high value-added investments, particularly in promising sectors that contribute to diversifying the economic base and strengthening the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.
The visit also included a review of the project’s various implementation phases, as well as a presentation of its investment vision and future expansion plans. This approach reflects the project’s ambition to offer a fully integrated model that combines medical tourism, specialized healthcare services, and luxury hospitality, in line with the highest global standards.
Heiba also inspected a number of the project’s components, including the hotel and medical centers, and reviewed progress rates, employment opportunities generated by the project, and its role in supporting specialized tourism and strengthening Egypt’s position in this vital sector.
Moreover, GAFI CEO emphasized that field visits are a key tool for monitoring the progress of investment projects, identifying any challenges investors may face, and addressing them promptly. He stressed that GAFI’s role goes beyond issuing licenses to acting as a genuine development partner, ensuring the sustainability and success of projects.
He added that Naya Wellness Nile Sornaga project represents a qualitative addition to Egypt’s health tourism sector, reflecting investors’ confidence in the Egyptian investment environment and the State’s ability to attract innovative projects that help position Egypt as a regional and global destination for medical tourism and wellness. The project also contributes to integrated development in surrounding areas by creating direct and indirect employment opportunities and stimulating related economic and service activities, GAFI CEO remarked.
On his part, Dr. Mohamed Karrar outlined the project’s comprehensive scope, explaining that it includes advanced medical facilities such as a stem cell and genetic analysis center, specialized treatment units, and preventive, regenerative, and rehabilitation programs.
The project also offers physiotherapy services, cosmetic treatments, and holistic wellness solutions, with a particular focus on neuroscience, sleep medicine, and comprehensive preventive screening, alongside a suite of innovative healthcare services designed in accordance with the latest international standards.
The visit wrapped up with a wide-ranging discussion with the project’s leadership, where participants highlighted the importance of ongoing coordination and hands-on oversight throughout the next phase.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to providing all necessary support to ensure the project progresses swiftly, meeting its planned developmental and economic goals.
The project is part of Egypt’s broader vision to establish the country as a leading regional and global destination for medical and therapeutic tourism. By attracting high-quality investments in the health tourism sector aimed at high-spending visitors, it seeks to boost tourism revenue and enhance Egypt’s competitiveness as a premier destination.
