H.E. Greek Ambassador in Cairo: Egypt is a strategic partner and a key hub for Greek investments in the region
As part of the State’s efforts to strengthen economic and investment relations with international partners, GAFI CEO Eng. Mohamed El-Gawsky met with His Excellency the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the Arab Republic of Egypt Mr. Νikolaos Papageorgiou to discuss opportunities for joint investment cooperation. The meeting also tackled recent developments in Greek investments in the Egyptian market and highlighted Egypt-Greece key strategic projects.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and Greece, with a particular focus on supporting Egyptian companies—especially startups—encouraging innovation, and enhancing competitiveness in local and international markets.
Eng. Mohamed El-Gawsky emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment for startups and enabling them to grow and expand, whether through administrative facilitation, training programs, or support for innovation and advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation. He noted that these efforts form part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the national economy, promote joint investments, and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian companies at both the local and international levels.
Eng. El-Gawsaky pointed out that cooperation between Egypt and Greece dates back thousands of years, and that today it is based on strategic economic and investment partnerships. This cooperation facilitates the exchange of expertise in the fields of technology and entrepreneurship, and supports the development of SMEs and startups to become part of the global digital revolution. He added that the meeting provides an opportunity to explore joint initiatives to apply artificial intelligence in the fields of industry, services, and trade, in a way that enhances innovation and expands market opportunities for Egyptian companies.
For his part, Ambassador Νikolaos Papageorgiou expressed his appreciation for the strong historical relations between the two countries, affirming Greece’s keenness to support economic partnerships and initiatives that enhance the growth of SMEs and startups, encourage innovation, and contribute to the development of a competitive business environment. In addition, the Ambassador underscored his country’s commitment to strengthening investment cooperation with Egypt, considering it a strategic partner and a key hub for Greek investments in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized their aspiration to turn this shared vision into tangible projects that enhance economic growth, support innovation and entrepreneurship, and serve the mutual interests of the two friendly countries, contributing to stability and development in the Eastern Mediterranean region. They also stressed the importance of following up on new initiatives to ensure concrete results and sustainable development in vital sectors.
