Counselor Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, GAFI CEO, met with Mr. Omar El-Sahy, General Manager of Amazon Egypt, on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the launch of Amazon.eg, in the presence of Ms. Hala Aranda, Head of Public Policy Sector at Amazon Egypt.
During the meeting, light was shed on the development and growth of the company's business in Egypt, which contributed to providing many job opportunities in several areas, including customer service, technology and operations. Amazon Egypt network includes a logistics center in the 10th of Ramadan City, with a storage capacity of more than 2.4 million cubic feet, in addition to a number of delivery stations across Cairo, Alexandria, Tanta, Ismailia, and Assiut, and a number of customer service centers and administrative offices.
During the meeting, investment opportunities were discussed to increase the company's investment in Egypt so that the Amazon network centers and stations could reach to 23 delivery stations by the end of 2022, in addition to several initiatives to support Egyptian products and local sellers, which contributes to the growth of the Egyptian economy.
For his part, Counselor Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, reviewed the various investment frameworks so that the company can assess them during its expansion plans, in order to achieve the maximum benefit for the Egyptian economy, and the best possible alternatives for the company at all operational levels.
On his part, Mr. Omar El-Sahy explained that Egypt is of great importance to Amazon in the Middle East, pointing out that the company will continue its investments to transfer knowledge and experience and provide exceptional opportunities to its customers in Egypt, whether it's competitive pricing, multiple choices and fast delivery, relying on local knowledge and Amazon's global expertise to innovate.
At the end of the meeting, Counselor Mohamed Abdel-Wahab stressed the keenness to provide the various aspects of support and facilities necessary for the company to implement its expansion plans and increase the volume of its investments in the Egyptian market so that Egypt would be a regional center for its investments in the Middle East and Africa.
