Investment Partnerships in Various Economic Sectors: GAFI Organizes the Egyptian-Omani Business Forum with the Participation of More than 100 Egyptian and Omani Companies

Counselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones “GAFI”, inaugurated the Egyptian-Omani Business Forum, in the presence of Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Rahbi, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Cairo, representatives of large Omani and Egyptian companies, and members of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry “OCCI”, aiming at achieving a qualitative leap in the volume of Omani investments and overcoming any challenges in order to enhance investment cooperation between the two countries.
During the opening session of the Forum, Counselor Abdel Wahab reviewed the latest developments of the investment environment in Egypt, especially legislative and executive reforms, the latest of which was developing a comprehensive strategy to enhance the role of the private sector and increase its investments in various sectors through the launch of the State Ownership Policy Document. Such document opens the way for expanding the participation of the private sector in economic life, creating equal opportunities, and strengthening competition mechanisms, in a way that promotes the contribution of investors in achieving development plans.
Counselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab also indicated that GAFI organized many bilateral meetings between Egyptian and Omani companies participating in the forum, whose number exceeded 100 companies, to discuss investment partnerships in various economic sectors. He explained that the participation of a large number of Egyptian companies and their interest in holding bilateral meetings with their counterparts from the Sultanate of Oman, comes within the framework of the great interest on both sides to speed up the implementation of joint projects in priority areas, on top of which are: industry, agriculture, Communications and Information Technology (CIT), as well as service sectors, the most important of which are logistics, construction and health.
GAFI CEO stressed the effort exerted to attract more foreign investments during the current period, as GAFI organizes a large number of meetings and visits to foreign investors periodically, in order to enhance the capabilities of the Egyptian economy to face any global challenges.
It is worth noting that the visit of OCCI delegation will include field visits to a number of factories in the investment zones in 6th of October City, in order to familiarize the Omani delegation with the advantages of the investment zones and the opportunities available on the ground.
