Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, attended the inauguration ceremony of a new production line at Garden Glass Egypt in 10th of Ramadan City, with investments exceeding $25 million, in the presence of Eng. Hazem El Ashmouny, Governor of Sharqia, and Dr. Mohamed Awad, GAFI CEO. The new production line reflects the company’s confidence in the Egyptian market and its commitment to further expanding its production and technological capabilities.
The Garden Glass delegation included Mr. Guus Boekhoudt, Executive Vice President for Global Commercial Affairs at Garden Glass; Mr. Evgeny Ananiev, General Manager for Commercial Affairs in Africa and the Middle East; Mr. Saeed Ahmed Bin Billa, Government Affairs Manager for Garden Glass in the United Arab Emirates and Egypt; Mr. Ahmed Hamdy, Plant Manager of Garden Glass Egypt; and Eng. Mahmoud Hegazy, Director of Operations for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia at Garden Glass.
The inauguration of the new production line comes as part of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s and GAFI’s efforts to follow up and coordinate with Garden Glass, support its expansion plans and increase its production capacities and investments in the Egyptian market, as well as facilitate the procedures required to implement the company’s plans.
Dr. Mohamed Awad, GAFI CEO, affirmed that the inauguration of Garden Glass’s new production line reflects GAFI’s commitment to supporting existing companies and following up on their expansion plans, noting the importance of the new expansion in enhancing the company’s production capabilities and increasing its investments in the Egyptian market.
He noted that GAFI continues to provide the necessary support and coordination to investors and assist existing companies in implementing their expansion projects, thereby contributing to increased investment and production and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian industry.
During the visit, the Minister, GAFI CEO, and Governor of Sharqia toured the factory to review the new production line, its operational stages, and the company’s plans to expand and increase its exports to foreign markets.
Garden Glass Egypt’s new expansion includes the introduction of advanced technology for high-performance glass coating, enabling the local production of high-performance glass using Vacuum Coater technology. This technology enhances the optical, thermal, and mechanical properties of locally produced glass, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of Egyptian products and supporting increased value added.
