Seeking to Scale up Jordanian Investments in Egypt

The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr met with the Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Dr. Tarek Al-Hamoury, in presence of the Jordanian Ambassador to Cairo Dr. Ali Alayed, the Minister of Investment's Assistant Mr. Khaled Ayyad and Head of MIIC's Arab-African Sector Mr. Fathi Abdel Azim.

The meeting discussed preparations for holding the 28th session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee scheduled to be held in Cairo and to be co-chaired by Prime Ministers of both countries. It is considered the first joint Arab committee which started its activities in the mid-1980s and is one of the most regular committees in terms of holding its successive sessions either in Cairo or Amman, in addition to its great achievements over 30 years.

Further, the meeting tackled enhancing investment relations between Egypt and Jordan, boosting Jordanian investments in Egypt and eliminating obstacles facing both countries. Dr. Nasr emphasized the deep-rooted Egyptian-Jordanian joint relations and the Egyptian government's permanent willingness to develop such relations in various cooperation areas and to facilitate any procedures so as to boost the volume of Jordanian investments in Egypt and intensify cooperation in several areas. 

Both sides agreed on holding the preparatory ministerial follow-up committee scheduled to be held in Jordan during the upcoming period and to be co-chaired by the Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation and the Jordanian Minister of Trade, Industry, and Supply with a view to agreeing on the final preparations for the convention of the higher committee. 

Moreover, Dr. Nasr referred to the significance of consensus between both countries during the joint committee's agenda as well as coordination between various ministries in Egypt and Jordan to accelerate the implementation of what would be agreed upon in various areas. 

On his part, Dr. Al-Hamoury reiterated his country's keenness on supporting Egypt and rendering the joint higher committee successful, which would contribute to enhancing relations between Egypt and Jordan in various areas. He also aspired to increase the volume of Jordanian exports to Egypt.
